Colombia Deploys Special Travel Protocols for All Saints’ Long Weekend Finishing November 2

Colombian authorities have implemented a comprehensive security and traffic mobility operation to handle the movement of over 3.8 million vehicles across the national territory during the All Saints’ Day (Día de Todos los Santos) long weekend, concluding on Monday, November 2.

The Ministry of Transport, alongside the National Police Traffic and Transportation Directorate, deployed more than 30,000 officers at critical toll points, border crossings, and major arterial highways. Operational protocols include heavy vehicle restrictions (trucks carrying 3.4 tons or more) on primary corridors to streamline passenger transit, alongside reversible lanes and traffic light wave adjustments near major urban centers.

On the final return leg of Monday, November 2, regional entry schemes such as the Pico y Placa Regional at the entrances to Bogotá will regulate vehicle flow, permitting even-numbered license plates to enter between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and odd-numbered plates between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Authorities urge drivers to respect speed limits, avoid alcohol consumption, and check highway conditions through official channels before setting out.
