MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA — Local authorities and the Secretariat of Mobility have reminded drivers, residents, and visitors about the vehicular restriction measures currently in effect across Medellín and the Aburrá Valley.
The Pico y Placa regulation applies today to private cars whose license plates end in the numbers 3 and 6, as well as to motorcycles (including two-stroke and four-stroke models, mototricycles, and ciclomotores) whose plates begin with the digits 3 and 6.

Schedule: The restriction operates continuously from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Scope: The measure is unified across the Aburrá Valley metropolitan area, covering Medellín and neighboring municipalities such as Envigado, Itagüí, and Bello.

Penalties: Drivers who fail to comply face a fine equivalent to 15 legal daily minimum wages (SMDLV) along with the potential immobilization of the vehicle.

Exemptions: Main highway corridors like the Sistema Vial del Río (Autopista Sur/Norte), Avenida Las Palmas, and La Iguaná remain exempt to facilitate regional transit. Authorities urge citizens to check their plate numbers beforehand and utilize integrated public transport systems like the Metro to avoid sanctions.
