Luz María Zapata is the new person involved in the corruption case of the La Guajira tank trucks
Luz María Zapata, director of Asocapitales, was identified as a new person involved in the largest corruption case that has shaken Colombia in recent times: the La Guajira tank trucks.
Zapata’s close friendship with Sandra Ortiz, the courier involved in the scandal, has put the director of Asocapitales at the center of the controversy.
Sandra Ortiz played a crucial role in the scandal, and her relationship with the president of the Senate, Iván Name, a member of the Alianza Verde party like Zapata, has raised suspicions about a possible network of complicity.
According to statements by Sneyder Pinilla, former senior official of the National Risk Management Unit, key meetings were held between September and October 2023. Sandra Ortiz, Olmedo López and the Minister of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velasco, participated in these meetings, with the aim of coordinating the payment of “bribes” for large sums of money.
Ortiz, a close friend of Zapata, apparently acted as an intermediary in these corrupt deals. It is alleged that Luz María Zapata was aware of these illicit activities, but she decided to ignore them due to her friendship with Ortiz and in order to secure her position in Petro’s government.
These actions would have been orchestrated under the orders of the best friend of the president of Colombia, Carlos Ramón González, with whom Zapata would also have maintained relations to facilitate the embezzlement that left La Guajira without water.
This new turn in the case of the La Guajira tank trucks generates a wave of indignation and concern in the country. The connections between political figures and the scale of corruption involved underscore the need for a thorough and transparent investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
