Sicarios assassinate Refinery worker in front of dozens of armed private guards and military personnel
The Shocking Assassination: Murder of Refinery Worker in Broad Daylight
Unpunished, desperate, speeding through modest traffic and effortlessly passing in front of dozens of armed private guards and military personnel, two individuals on a motorcycle murdered Jefferson Arizala Carvache, a worker at the Esmeraldas state-owned Refinery, on the afternoon of Friday, the 30th.
The homicide took place after 5:00 PM when the employee was leaving with other workers and employees at the end of their usual shift at the industrial plant.
Two individuals were waiting for him outside the complex, right in front of the entrance area to the country’s largest oil refining plant, which is guarded by numerous armed private guards and heavily armed military personnel, who became mere spectators to this gruesome act of violence.
The guards from a gas distribution company located 10 meters away from the crime scene, as well as the guards from Termoesmeraldas II, who were nearly 30 meters away, did not take any action either. At that moment, the ratio between armed guards and military personnel compared to the two assassins was no less than 14 to 1, yet the criminals prevailed once again.
The assassins fled towards the Codesa roundabout, passing through three other checkpoints along the way. The strongest checkpoint, the entrance to Balao, was guarded by armed military personnel and private guards who also did not intervene.
The message that the people of Esmeraldas receive daily is that they are alone, at the mercy of the criminals, as the authorities only come to collect the bodies.
In this new, chilling, and undoubtedly unpunished act of violence, bullets pierced through the tinted windows of the victim’s vehicle and struck Arizala Carvache, who was driving the car. He was assisted by oil workers and transported by an ambulance to the Social Security basic hospital.
