In a lightning offensive against crime, the National Police, through the Criminal Investigation Section (SIJIN), managed to dismantle key nodes of the criminal group “Los Turcos”, a structure that had been spreading fear in the capital of Norte de Santander.
The operations, carried out simultaneously in several strategic points, resulted in the capture of three men accused of coordinating and executing criminal actions in the region.
Fall of alias “Jonah” and his accomplices
The main blow was dealt in communes 6 and 7 of Cúcuta, where the uniformed officers captured Yair Ricardo Jaimes, known as alias “Jonás.” According to the authorities, this subject served as the group’s criminal actions coordinator. At the time of his arrest, a firearm was seized from him and is being subjected to ballistics tests to determine its relationship with recent homicides. Jaimes already had an extensive record and diverse judicial records.

At the same time, in the municipality of Los Patios, Yefrei Quintero and José Rivas, active members of the same structure, were captured. In this procedure, the Police seized:
Firearms and ammunition.
Motorcycles used for illicit activities.
Mobile devices that will be analyzed to track other connections in the band.
Likewise, in the Seville neighborhood, the authorities managed to seize a considerable amount of narcotics, affecting the organization’s finances.
“Three Doritos later”: The moment their smile faded
A particular event marked the day and has gone viral on social networks. During the official transmission of the capture, one of the detained young people appeared defiant and mocking, laughing in front of the cameras and the authorities.
However, the attitude of the criminals took a radical turn when the Commander of the Cúcuta Police intervened firmly. With a direct reminder that “the Police respect each other,” the officer confronted the cynical attitude of those captured. In a matter of seconds, the laughter disappeared from their faces, reflecting the seriousness of the charges they now face before the Colombian justice system.
