The Colombian authorities managed to dismantle a criminal network dedicated to human trafficking that operated from Cali, Valle del Cauca, and that was involved in the recruitment and transfer of young women in vulnerable conditions to Europe, where they were subjected to sexual exploitation.

The Attorney General’s Office confirmed the capture of two alleged members of the organization in Colombian territory.

These are Chilari and Johan Alexander, accused of being part of this criminal structure with transnational reach, whose final destination was the city of Oslo, in Norway.

According to investigations, the network used false job offers and promises of high income to convince victims to travel abroad.

Once outside the country, the women were subjected to deception, constant threats and degrading treatment, being forced to engage in sexual activities to pay alleged debts related to lodging, food and other expenses.

The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that a prosecutor from the Special Directorate against Human Rights Violations charged those captured with the crimes of conspiracy to commit aggravated crimes and human trafficking. None accepted the charges, so a judge ordered a security measure in the prison while the judicial process progresses.

According to the evidentiary material, between July and November 2023, Chilari would have contacted at least three women, from whom he requested photographic studies in underwear as part of the alleged selection process. In addition, he was in charge of managing documents such as passports, consular procedures and invitation letters to facilitate their departure from the country.

The woman would also have coordinated the transfer of the victims from Cali to the El Dorado international airport in Bogotá, guaranteeing that the trip was carried out without raising suspicions.

For his part, Johan Alexander would be in charge of logistics and control of the victims, allegedly using intimidation and threats, even with firearms, to prevent them from reporting the abuses to the authorities.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that an international arrest warrant was issued against the alleged ringleader of the network, a Colombian-Norwegian citizen. Investigations continue with the objective of identifying other possible members of this criminal organization dedicated to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
