Intolerance once again took over the TransMilenio system, this time in the middle of the Christmas celebration. A new act of violence was recorded inside an articulated bus in Bogotá, where two women engaged in a physical fight before the astonished gaze of dozens of passengers, including several children. The episode was recorded on video and quickly spread through social networks.
The altercation occurred on December 25, when the vehicle was traveling with high occupancy by citizens who were returning to their homes after spending time with their families.
In the images you can see how the two women confront each other in the middle of the articulated aisle, pulling each other’s hair and struggling regardless of the presence of other users.
According to witnesses and what can be heard in the recording, the origin of the fight would not have been a dispute over a seat, a frequent cause of conflicts in the system, but, apparently, an offensive comment directed at the son of one of those involved. This situation would have triggered the violent reaction that escalated in a matter of seconds.

As the confrontation progressed, several passengers tried to intervene to separate the women, although without immediately succeeding. Others, in contrast, chose to record the scene with their cell phones.

In the midst of the chaos, one of the users ironically launched the phrase “Merry Christmas”, reflecting the contrast between the festive date and the aggressive atmosphere inside the bus.
The intolerance intensified when a man, allegedly accompanying one of the women, tried to join the fight, which was about to generate an even more serious situation. Finally, another passenger managed to intervene more forcefully and managed to separate those involved, preventing the confrontation from escalating.
This new episode once again raises alarm bells about the normalization of fights within Bogotá’s mass transportation system, affected by congestion, daily stress and lack of citizen culture.
The authorities reiterated the call for respect, tolerance and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, especially on dates intended for coexistence and reconciliation.
