Minute30.com .- What began as a family and community celebration to welcome 2026, ended in a tragedy that today mourns the Manrique neighborhood, Carambolas sector, in the northeast of Medellín. A 49-year-old man, from the municipality of Frontino, lost his life after being attacked with a machete in the midst of an act of social intolerance.

The events were recorded at 11:50 in the morning on Thursday, January 1. According to witnesses, a group of people were on the street preparing a sancocho to celebrate the New Year, when the harmony of the moment was broken by the arrival of a subject with whom the victim had long-standing personal problems.

An argument that ended in fatality

According to unofficial versions, the perpetrator arrived at the celebration site and began a heated discussion with the deceased, reminding him of quarrels they had had months ago. The dispute quickly escalated into a physical fight where the aggressor, wielding a machete, inflicted a fatal wound at the level of the neck, on the left side.

The victim, who was wearing a red shirt, black pants and black shoes, fell lying on the spot. Due to the severity of the wound, the man lost his life instantly, being surrounded by a pool of blood before the astonished gaze of those present.

The perpetrator fled the scene

After committing the attack, the aggressor fled. When the Police arrived, the citizen no longer had vital signs, so the place was immediately cordoned off to preserve the crime scene.
