On the morning of this Wednesday, November 5, the mayor of Medellín presented what will be the new Atanasio Girardot, after confirming that considerable improvements will be made to the existing one and a third floor and roof will be added, so that the fans’ experience improves considerably.

As indicated by the mayor, the new stadium will have capacity for 60,000 spectators, almost 15,000 more than it normally holds at present. In addition, he indicated that the works would begin in June 2026, and the idea is that it will be delivered by the end of 2027.

Among the improvements, it stands out that the Atanasio will have a roof to cover all the stands, so fans will stop suffering from the weather in each game, as well as flooding and other problems that occurred in the winter season will disappear.
