The WBSC Baseball America Cup, initially scheduled to take place from Thursday, November 13 to Saturday, November 22 in Panama, has been rescheduled for a future date.

The Pan American Baseball Confederation (WBSC Americas) issued a statement this Saturday informing about the suspension.

The decision occurs a few days before the start date of the event, despite the fact that the organization had already confirmed the game schedule and the Panamanian venues that would host the international competition.

The highest governing body of baseball and softball on the continent explained that the main cause of this drastic measure is the non-compliance on the part of the private promoter who was in charge of the contest.

This non-compliance would affect essential aspects for the holding of the event, such as the installation logistics, the participation of the athletes, as well as their stay, transportation and security, which forced the WBSC Americas to suspend the dates.

Several countries were in the final phase of their preparations for the tournament. Specifically, our country was finalizing the details for its participation in Group B.

There they would compete against Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Puerto Rico and the local team of Panama at the “Mariano Rivera” stadium in La Chorrera. For its part, Group A was made up of Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua, Curacao and Venezuela.

The Copa América de Beisbol was not only an important event in itself, but it also functioned as the prelude to an intense world-class baseball calendar scheduled for 2026.

This includes highly relevant events such as the World Baseball Classic, followed by the Central American and Caribbean Games, which will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
