Minute30.com .- The National Army of Colombia categorically condemned the kidnapping of two of its professional soldiers, which occurred this Monday, November 3, 2025, in the department of Meta. Through the Omega Task Force, the institution demanded the immediate release of its men, emphasizing that they should not be used as instruments of pressure.

The kidnapping occurred in the Getsemaní village, jurisdiction of the municipality of La Macarena, Meta, during the development of an operation to accompany the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General’s Office. The kidnapped are two professional soldiers from the Direct Action and Reconnaissance Battalion No. 12, assigned to the Omega Task Force.

Four soldiers kidnapped by 400 residents

The events escalated after the aerial extraction of the CTI personnel and a woman who had been captured. At that time, approximately 400 people gathered. This group initially retained four uniformed officers: a lieutenant and three professional soldiers.

The Omega Task Force indicated that this massive retention by the civilian population would have been the subject of “constraint and coercion” by members of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Jorge Suárez Briceño Block. Hours later, the population freed the officer and one of the soldiers, but kept the two remaining soldiers in captivity.

The two kidnapped soldiers were forced by the population to remove their military equipment and clothing and to wear civilian clothes. Later, they were taken to an unknown location. The institution expressed its “institutional concern” for the life and physical integrity of its men, reiterating that they serve the country and fulfill the mission of protecting the civilian population.

The National Army has already brought the facts to the attention of the Oversight, Monitoring and Verification Mechanism. In addition, all necessary legal and operational actions are being carried out before the competent authorities, seeking the prompt release of the uniformed personnel and the restoration of order in the area, while rejecting any action that violates International Humanitarian Law.
