In an operation that restored calm to the National Army, two soldiers who had been kidnapped in the Getsemaní village, jurisdiction of La Macarena, Meta, were released this Tuesday, November 4, in the rural area of ​​the municipality.

The two members of the public force had been detained by an illegal armed group that operates in the region. After several days with no trace of their whereabouts, they were finally abandoned by their captors in a wooded area. There, a local priest acted as a mediator and received the soldiers in apparent good health, before being transported by official teams to a safe place.

The Army highlighted that, after the liberation, a security and humanitarian care protocol was activated, while control operations are deployed in the area to prevent new violent events.

The area, historically hit by illegal groups, remains under strict surveillance by the Public Force to prevent these acts from being repeated.

According to the authorities, the soldiers will undergo medical and psychological examinations after their kidnapping, and then be reunited with their families.
