In a high-impact operation carried out on the Cali – Andalusia road axis, in the department of Valle del Cauca, the National Police seized 3.5 tons of marijuana that were transported hidden in a truck and captured a person allegedly linked to this illicit shipment.
The procedure was carried out by units specialized in the fight against drug trafficking on one of the main routes in southwestern Colombia, used recurrently for the transfer of illegal substances. According to the authorities, this seizure becomes one of the most relevant recorded in the region in recent months.
Operational coup and criminal context
The narcotic was found during reinforced road controls, which are part of the preventive and operational actions deployed by the Police in strategic corridors of the country. The location of the operation is especially relevant, since this road connects key municipalities and is considered a critical point for the transit of drugs to different areas of the national territory.
According to preliminary information, the Dagoberto Ramos Front of the Central General Staff (EMC) would have a criminal presence in the area, a structure noted for its participation in activities related to drug trafficking. For this reason, the authorities highlighted that the seizure directly affects the logistics and mobility of these illegal organizations.

This result is part of the national security strategy carried out by the National Police, in coordination with other State entities, with the objective of weakening the production, transportation and distribution chains of drug trafficking. In Valle del Cauca and nearby regions, authorities have intensified controls on main roads, achieving important seizures in recent years.
Security challenges in the southwest of the country
The Cauca Valley continues to be a strategic area for land and river transportation, a condition that has historically been used by illegal armed groups to move narcotics. Despite the strengthening of control operations, drug trafficking continues to represent a challenge due to the complexity of the phenomenon and the persistence of criminal structures in different territories.
Finally, the National Police reiterated the call to citizens to promptly report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking and confirmed that it will maintain the offensive against organized crime to protect the security and tranquility of Colombians.
