On the morning of this Thursday, November 6, the Tren de la Sabana was involved in a new traffic accident when it collided with a private truck at the railway crossing that connects the Autonorte with the Central del Norte highway, near the renowned El Pórtico restaurant, in the municipality of Chía.

The incident took place when the vehicle apparently tried to pass along the railway track without respecting the signs, just at the moment when the Sabana Train was moving through the corridor.

As a result of the impact, the truck was left with heavy damage to its structure, while one of the occupants was injured and had to be treated by relief agencies.

The first versions suggest that a reckless maneuver would have been the cause of the crash, when the driver tried to cross the track just when the train was imminent.

The units of the Chía Fire Department, together with agents from the National Police, responded quickly to secure the sector, prevent possible fuel leaks and coordinate the removal of the vehicle involved.

The priority of the authorities was to enable the railway and restore the normal operation of the tourist train route, which was temporarily stopped after the accident.
