A group of 15 soldiers from the Gaula Militar Ariari suffered a traffic accident on Saturday, February 14, while carrying out service activities in the department of Meta. The incident occurred on the road that connects Puerto Rico with Puerto Concordia, in the La Cucharita sector, when the turbo-type vehicle in which they were traveling was heading towards San José del Guaviare.

Immediate attention and health status

The IV Division of the National Army reported that all uniformed personnel received immediate medical attention. The majority presented minor injuries, while two soldiers were transferred to Villavicencio for specialized care at the Apiay Base, due to the relative severity of their injuries. The remaining 13 remain in the Gaula Ariari Military Group Unit, under medical supervision.

All soldiers are stable, and their families are monitored by the institution.

Ongoing investigation

The accident is under investigation by the competent authorities, in order to determine the causes that caused it. The IV Division clarified that the care and security protocols established for this type of incident were applied.
