Villavicencio lives hours of dismay after the murder of Deputy Mayor Jeferson Orlando Fernández Orduz, assigned to the CAI Barzal, who lost his life while fulfilling his duty to protect the community during a police procedure. According to the National Police, the victim was attacked by criminals in the middle of the intervention, leaving him mortally wounded.
General William Oswaldo Rincón Zambrano pointed out that this unfortunate event not only represents a loss for the institution, but also for the family, friends and colleagues of the deputy mayor, who face an irreparable absence. “Jeferson was not a statistic or news; he was a son, a family member, a friend, a partner. He went out to serve and did not return home,” said the officer.

During the operation, a subject identified as alias ‘Polo’, allegedly responsible for the attack that ended the life of the uniformed man, was injured. In addition, his brother, alias ‘Richard’, was captured, who was carrying the firearm with which, according to preliminary investigations, the crime would have been committed.
General Rincón Zambrano emphasized that behind the police uniform there are lives, dreams and families, and he firmly and absolutely rejected this criminal act, calling for justice. “Nothing hurts more than firing a colleague. It hurts as an institution, but it hurts even more as human beings,” he said.
The National Police assured that it will accompany the family of Fernández Orduz in this difficult moment and that it will honor his memory with truth, justice and determined work for security and coexistence.
This fact shows, once again, the risks that members of the public force face daily and the need to strengthen protection mechanisms for those who ensure the safety of the community.
