In the last few hours, a serious incident of domestic violence shook the northeast of Medellín. The Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the homicide of a 26-year-old woman, whose body was found with stab wounds inside a home in the La Honda neighborhood, Manrique commune.
According to the authorities, the discovery was possible thanks to the quick intervention of neighbors, who alerted about the presence of a body without vital signs. Upon arrival, the uniformed officers found the victim next to the weapon allegedly used in the crime, a knife.
The alleged perpetrator, the woman’s romantic partner and 36 years old, voluntarily surrendered to the authorities, admitting his participation in the incident. According to their version, the attack would have occurred after an argument in the house where they lived together. Currently, she remains in the custody of the Prosecutor’s Office, which is advancing the investigation to precisely determine the nature of the crime and establish whether it is a femicide.

Although Medellín closed 2025 with around 346 homicides, one of the lowest figures in almost 40 years, lethal violence persists in certain sectors of the city. The year 2026 began with violent events from the first day, and so far the city has accumulated at least 27 homicides, according to preliminary reports.
The Manrique, Aranjuez and Popular communes continue to concentrate cases, due to a history of disputes between criminal structures and the presence of urban gangs, which sometimes translates into confrontations and homicides with signs of extreme violence. These events keep both the authorities and the local community on alert.
This feminicide shows that, despite the reduction in general numbers, domestic violence and homicides continue to be a threat, especially in communes with a history of conflict. The Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances of the crime and will define the corresponding charges.
