The morning of this Tuesday, December 2, began with strong blockades on El Dorado Avenue, at the height of Carrera 94, which keeps mobility collapsed in one of the most important road corridors in Bogotá.

Since 9:00 am, dozens of people have been forced to walk several kilometers along Calle 26 due to the suspension of TransMilenio services at the Portal El Dorado, Modelia, Normandía and Avenida Rojas stations.

The demonstrations are led by residents of the Chocó department, who set up tents on the road in order to attract the attention of the Ministry of the Interior. The protesters demand to be heard by the entity to resolve a series of social demands that, according to them, have not been addressed for months.

The presence of the tents on the road corridor, added to the human groups stationed in both lanes, has generated a backup of vehicles and a total blockade in the east-west direction. Due to the situation, zone buses also have delays and detours.

The Police are already present at the concentration point to guarantee security and prevent the situation from getting out of control. However, so far there is no confirmation about a possible mediation between the Ministry of the Interior and the protesters to clear the road.

TransMilenio reported that services will continue to be suspended as long as the blockades persist and recommended that users allow for additional travel times and look for alternative routes.
