Investigative actions carried out by the Attorney General’s Office made it possible to identify and prosecute Juan Esteban Vega Rodas and Miguel Ángel Caicedo Pulgarín, two of the alleged perpetrators of the crime of three people and the injuries caused to another in events that occurred on September 19, in the village of Los Cocuyos in Ginebra (Valle del Cauca).
Armed men entered a home and, amid intimidation, forced its occupants, two of them 16-year-old teenagers, to leave the property. Later, they were shot. Three of the victims died at the scene and one of the minors was taken to a care center where his life was saved.
The evidence shows that Vega Rodas would have ordered the armed attack; while Caicedo Pulgarín would have been in charge of executing him and firing his firearm.
In that sense, a prosecutor from the Valle del Cauca Section presented them before a guarantee control judge and charged them with the crimes of aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide; and manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
The defendants did not accept the charges and must comply with a security measure in a prison.

On Friday night, around 10:30 pm, armed men who identified themselves as guerrillas arrived at a house in the district of Los Cocuyos, rural area of Ginebra, Valle del Cauca. When they broke into the place, they took out four people and took them to a nearby road, where they shot them, causing the death of Yilber Adrián López (46 years old), Pablo Auce (27 years old) and the youngest Jhoan López Díaz (16 years old), while his twin brother Johan López Díaz (16 years old) was injured.
The Ombudsman’s Office issued Early Warning 010 of 2024, in which it warns about the territorial dispute between the Adán Izquierdo Front of the Central General Staff and the Front 57 “Yair Bermúdez” in Geneva. It points out that the Adán Izquierdo Front seeks to consolidate control in rural areas to ensure mobility, logistics and drug trafficking routes, which increases the risk for peasants, small farmers, transporters, teachers, peace signatories and migrants, documenting homicides, threats, extortions, illegal checkpoints and restrictions on mobility.
