The tranquility of Tunja was broken in the early hours of this Saturday, November 8, when a dump truck with bombs appeared near the Gustavo Rojas Pinilla Battalion, in the Curubal neighborhood, in Tunja.

Security cameras captured the moment the bomb dump truck was abandoned, around 5:00 in the morning.

The video shows a subject getting off the dump truck and leaving the scene on a motorcycle along with another man.

After suspecting the vehicle, authorities confirmed that the dump truck was loaded with explosive devices, which generated panic among residents of the area.

The National Army and the Police immediately activated security protocols and evacuated nearby families, while the anti-explosive group carried out controlled detonations that prevented a major tragedy.

According to the official statement, the alert was issued by the community through the Good Neighbor plan, which allowed the battalion’s troops to react quickly.

“The vehicle was found abandoned, on fire and with explosive devices in its dump,” the military report indicated.

President Gustavo Petro confirmed the neutralization of the attack: “The civil and military population was evacuated in time. Zero fatalities. Do not let your guard down and hit drug trafficking where it hurts.”

Although the authorities have not identified those responsible, the presence of at least three explosive devices in the vicinity of the battalion was confirmed.

The operation continues while recordings are reviewed that reveal how the attackers left the dump truck ready to detonate in the residential sector.
