The remodeling works at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium are advancing at a frenetic pace with a clear objective: to be ready to host the final of the Copa Sudamericana.

The mayor of Barranquilla, Alex Char, confirmed that the total removal of the old grass has already been completed and that crews are currently concentrating on excavation and demolition work.

These interventions seek to raise the standards of the stage to turn it into an international-class venue, capable of offering the best conditions for both the Colombian National Team and for large-scale shows.

During an official inspection visit, the local president received Ramón Jesurun, president of the Colombian Football Federation, to supervise first-hand the progress of the infrastructure.

The presence of the FCF director underlines the strategic importance of these works for the region’s sports calendar in 2026.

The supervision day also extended to the Colombian National Team sports complex, where improvements in the training facilities were verified.

According to the mayor, the complex’s new hotel presents significant progress and it is estimated that it will be officially handed over in approximately one month.
