A quick operation by the authorities allowed the capture of two men accused of committing a robbery in broad daylight in the El Poblado sector, Medellín. The incident occurred on 43A Street, where two citizens were robbed of several high-value jewelry.

According to official information, the alleged criminals intimidated the victims to snatch three gold chains, whose value exceeds $10 million pesos.

After the alert was issued to the emergency line, Metropolitan Police patrols reacted immediately and activated a lock plan in the area, managing to intercept the suspects a few minutes after the incident.

Those captured are two men aged 21 and 30, both of Venezuelan nationality, who were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority. During the procedure, the stolen jewelry was recovered in its entirety and later returned to its owners.

In the operation, the authorities also seized a pistol-type firearm, which would have been modified and used to intimidate the victims during the robbery.

In addition, a motorcycle on which the captured people were traveling and which had adulterated license plates was immobilized.

The mayor’s office highlighted this result as a blow to the gangs that affect security in high-traffic areas. According to official figures, theft in Medellín has registered a reduction of close to 18% so far in 2025, thanks to the strengthening of patrolling, the use of technology and the coordination between the Mayor’s Office and the National Police.

The authorities reiterated the call to citizens to report any suspicious incident and thus continue closing the siege against crime in the city.
