In a surprise operation at the beginning of the holiday season, the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, the National Police and the Tax and Customs Police, in the company of the Attorney General’s Office, dismantled a warehouse in Barrio Colombia where nearly 6,700 pairs of contraband footwear were hidden.
The merchandise, valued at more than $1.7 billion, was linked to crimes of favoring and facilitating smuggling, as well as usurpation of industrial property rights, which constitutes a significant blow against multicrime organizations dedicated to the entry and distribution of illegal products.

The operation was carried out with the objective of stopping the massive entry of illegal products into the city during the end of year festivities, a time when the marketing of contraband merchandise traditionally increases, taking advantage of high consumer demand.
The dismantling of this winery in Barrio Colombia adds to the efforts of the authorities to protect the local economy and guarantee that the Christmas celebrations take place safely, without the presence of products that evade quality and safety controls.
