The Mayor’s Office of Medellín, in coordination with the National Police, carried out the rescue of a five-year-old boy who was asking for help from a home located in the Juan XXIII neighborhood, San Javier.

According to the official report, the surveillance patrol found the minor completely alone and without any information about the whereabouts of his parents.

Thanks to the immediate reaction of the uniformed officers and the activation of the protection protocol, the safety of the five-year-old child was guaranteed and the situation was prevented from leading to greater risk.

The Police Child and Adolescent Protection Group went to the scene, received the minor on a public street and immediately transferred him to the Emergency Family Police Station.

The minor was treated as a priority in compliance with the guidelines for cases of alleged abandonment and was placed in the custody of the competent authority to advance the process of reestablishing rights.

The Mayor’s Office of Medellín reiterated its commitment to the defense and care of children, reminding citizens that no child or adolescent should remain unprotected or exposed to risk situations.

To date, Medellín has granted 9,419 measures of protection and restoration of rights to this population.
