A police operation carried out in the town of Suba allowed the capture in flagrante delicto of a 22-year-old young man accused of being involved in the theft of two motorcycles, events that occurred this Thursday, February 6, in the La Gaitana sector, northwest of Bogotá.
The action was carried out thanks to the timely reaction of the units attached to the Suba Police Station, after a citizen alerted the authorities about the theft of his motorcycle, committed under the modality of pulling. With this information, the uniformed officers began an operational deployment in the area to locate the alleged perpetrators.
As part of the security strategy, the patrols activated the so-called ‘Padlock Plan’, a procedure that allows closing possible escape routes through the coordination of several quadrants. During the tour, the police detected two men traveling on motorcycles that matched the characteristics of the vehicles reported stolen.
Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects fled, which led to a chase through the sector. According to Lieutenant Colonel Julio Botero, commander of the Suba Police Station, the individuals abandoned the motorcycles and tried to escape on foot. However, one of them was intercepted and captured by the uniformed officers, while the second managed to flee the scene.

After verifying the recovered vehicles, the authorities confirmed that both motorcycles had been stolen minutes before: one by robbery and the other by pulling. One of them was found abandoned on the road during the procedure.
The captured person was prosecuted for the crime of reception and placed at the disposal of the competent authority along with the recovered motorcycles. According to official information, the young man has a record of qualified theft. After the preliminary hearings, a judge of the Republic imposed a measure of deprivation of liberty in a prison and penitentiary center.
The Bogotá Metropolitan Police reiterated the call to citizens to report any criminal act or act contrary to coexistence through Emergency Line 123, highlighting that citizen collaboration and timely information are essential to strengthen investigative processes and combat crime in the city.
