The authorities confirmed significant progress in the investigation into the attack in Tunja, which occurred this weekend when a dump truck loaded with tattoos was abandoned a few meters from the Simón Bolívar Battalion, leaving severe damage to the military garrison and damage to at least 36 homes in the Prados de Alcalá neighborhood.
The National Army attributes the attack to the Adonay Ardila Pinilla front of the ELN, commanded by alias Poeta, and maintains that he would have been executed in retaliation for the military operations carried out in Boyacá municipalities such as Socotá, Labranza Grande and Pajarito.
Colonel Raúl Cardona Restrepo, commander of the Army’s First Brigade, assured that the investigations “They are moving forward with concrete results derived from several raids.”
Although he avoided revealing details due to judicial confidentiality, he confirmed that the procedures have made it possible to identify key points about the preparation and execution of the attack.
“In due course, the Army command or the commanders will give the information to public opinion. In this short term there are already tangible results”said the officer.
Among the places inspected are the sites where the dump truck used in the attack was acquired and where the explosive cylinders were allegedly installed.

According to the Director General of the Police, William Rincón, the vehicle contained tattoos with sequential timers, which demonstrates meticulous planning of the event.
The explosion left a panorama of destruction: broken glass, collapsed facades and damaged walls both inside the battalion and in neighboring homes.
After the attack in Tunja, the departmental government of Boyacá convened an urgent security council the same Saturday night, where new measures were adopted to strengthen surveillance. Among the decisions are: the installation of security cameras on the Tunja-Paipa-Duitama-Sogamoso route, the same one through which the dump truck entered, and the reinforcement of the force with new officers and the recovery of a military canton.
The case remains under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Judicial Police, while citizens ask for greater State presence in the face of the resurgence of violent actions attributed to the ELN in the center of the country.
