A forceful operation by the Directorate of Transit and Transportation of the National Police made it possible to deal a strong blow to the FARC dissidents. Three alleged members of the Dagoberto Ramos structure were captured while transporting 2,000 7.62 caliber cartridges hidden in a cove inside a truck.

The procedure took place at kilometer 0, on the Sucromiles – El Cerrito road, where Transit units carried out vehicle registration checks.

During the inspection, the uniformed officers detected anomalies in the fuel tank cap; When disassembling it, they found a clandestine compartment built for the illegal transport of war material. Inside were the cartridges, properly packaged to avoid police controls.

According to the preliminary investigation, the ammunition would have been transported from the municipality of Corinto, in Cauca, to Tuluá, in Valle del Cauca.

The authorities indicate that the war material would be used by members of the Dagoberto Ramos mobile column to strengthen their offensive capacity in the region.

The three captured must answer for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. In addition, the vehicle used to transport the ammunition was seized as evidence to advance the judicial process.

He also stressed that this type of seizure neutralizes possible violent actions and directly affects the logistical capacity of the dissidents.
