In a forceful blow against organized crime in Medellín, the National Police, in coordination with the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, managed to capture 11 members of the Organized Common Crime Group (GDCO) ‘Los del Llano’, a criminal structure that operated in the west of the city and that would be linked to serious acts of extortion, torture and forced displacement.

The arrests were made in compliance with court orders for the crimes of extortion, conspiracy to commit a crime and forced displacement, directly affecting the criminal capacity of this illegal organization, which was accountable to GDO Robledo, according to the authorities.

During the operation, alias ‘Trenzas’ was captured, identified as the main leader of the structure, along with several area coordinators who exercised criminal control in the San Cristóbal district.

According to the investigation, the group was dedicated to systematically extorting merchants and residents of the sector, imposing illegal fees under threats and acts of intimidation.

Victims who refused to pay were forced to leave their homes, generating forced displacement and allowing the organization to exercise territorial control through fear, a repeated practice that affected multiple families.

One of the most serious events documented by the authorities occurred on March 8, 2025, when members of ‘Los del Llano’ held and tortured two young people aged 16 and 18 in the sector known as El Cucaracho.

According to the investigation, the criminals used electric shocks to intimidate the victims and put pressure on their families, demanding payment of $20 million pesos in exchange for their release.

As part of the arrests, the authorities seized two pistols, a shotgun, 20 38 caliber cartridges and seven cell phones, elements that will be key in the judicial process and that demonstrate the armed and operational capacity of the criminal group.

The authorities reiterated their commitment to continue operations against criminal structures that affect security and coexistence in Medellín, and called on citizens to promptly report cases of extortion, in order to continue weakening these illegal organizations.
