Troops attached to the 29th Brigade of the National Army located and destroyed in a controlled manner an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), along with propaganda alluding to illegal armed groups, on the Pan-American highway, in a rural area of the municipality of Santander de Quilichao, department of Cauca.
The operation was carried out under strict security protocols and in coordination with the competent authorities, with the purpose of protecting the civilian population and guaranteeing free mobility in one of the most important road corridors in the southwest of the country.

Thanks to the timely action of the troops, it was avoided putting passers-by and vehicles moving through the sector at risk. The National Army reiterated that it maintains a permanent presence in the main corridors of the country, in order to safeguard the security and integrity of citizens against threats from illegal armed groups.

The authorities called on the community to remain alert to any suspicious element on roads and rural areas, and immediately report it to the corresponding authorities.
