A 22-year-old man was captured in flagrante delicto by the authorities in the town of Suba, after being accused of committing the theft of a high-end cell phone in the northwest of Bogotá. The device, valued at approximately three million pesos, was recovered.

The procedure was carried out in the Las Villas neighborhood, after an alert issued by the Metropolitan Police radio station, which reported about a person held by the community. A surveillance patrol assigned to the Tierra Linda CAI of the Suba Police Station traveled to the scene.

Upon arrival, the uniformed officers were informed by the residents of the sector that the alleged criminal, who was traveling on a motorcycle, had robbed a passerby of her cell phone minutes before. The quick police reaction made it possible to control the situation, prevent the man from being attacked by the community and proceed with his capture.

The captured person was left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office, where he must answer for the crime of theft, while the corresponding investigations progress.

The Security Secretariat and the Bogotá Metropolitan Police reiterated the call to citizens not to exercise justice into their own hands and to immediately report any criminal act through Line 123, in order to allow timely intervention by the authorities.
