The electoral board for the legislative elections is beginning to be defined and the Democratic Center has taken the first firm step by revealing the “tip of the spear” of its strategy for the Senate of the Republic. The community has confirmed the first five lines of its list, once again opting for the closed list mechanism, which protects the election of those who occupy the leading positions.
This decision rewards the exercise of political control carried out during the current four-year period and combines opinion figures with congressmen seeking to make the leap from the House to the Senate.
The “five fixed” of Uribism
With the closed list mechanics, the votes are added to the party logo and the seats are assigned in the strict order of registration. Considering the historical threshold and the electoral base of Uribismo, the following five names would have their credentials almost assured:
Andrés Forero: The current representative to the Chamber for Bogotá assumes the great responsibility of being the head of the list (number one). It is a recognition of his fierce opposition to the Petro government, especially on health issues and pension reform.
Rafael Nieto Loaiza: The former vice minister and analyst represents the most ideological and conservative wing of the party. Its location in the second line seeks to captivate the right-wing opinion vote.
Margarita Zuleta: A technical bet. Zuleta arrives with a profile focused on the fight against corruption and public management, providing a different nuance to the eminently political list.
Hernán Cadavid: The Antioquia representative makes the leap to the Senate. Cadavid has established himself as one of the strongest young voices in the party and guarantees the regional quota of Antioquia, the historic stronghold of the community, in the first places.

A campaign message
The formation of this “Top 5” sends a clear message: the Democratic Center prioritizes those who have led the debate against the current Government (Forero and Cadavid) and seeks to maintain ideological cohesion with important figures such as Nieto Loaiza.
It is expected that in the coming days the rest of the plan will be made official, but for now, the opposition bench has already defined its generals for the upcoming electoral battle.
These are the five names that will lead the list of the Senate of the Democratic Center for the 2026 elections
