The forcefulness of the evidence collected by the Attorney General’s Office allowed judges of the Republic to issue convictions against three men involved in serious crimes of a sexual nature in the city of Cali.
The cases, which have caused outrage in the community, involve victims in highly vulnerable conditions, specifically two minors and an elderly woman, evidencing a pattern of abuse that the justice system has decided to punish in an exemplary manner.
The most severe sanction fell on Luis Enrique Sánchez, who must serve a sentence of 71 years and 4 months in prison. This ruling was made after proving his responsibility in the crime of aggravated sexual acts with a minor under 14 years of age.
The judicial investigation determined that Sánchez subjected a girl of just 6 years to sexual touching, in events that date back to December 2016 in the El Poblado neighborhood. The magnitude of the sentence reflects the severity of the damage caused to the minor’s integrity.
In a second case, the court sentenced a 53-year-old man to 17 years and 4 months in prison for sexual acts with a minor under 14 years of age. The victim in this process is a 9-year-old girl, who is the granddaughter of the sentimental partner of the man sentenced today.

The evidence presented during the trial revealed an environment of systematic abuse that occurred between 2019 and 2020, where the minor was not only a victim of direct acts, but was also forced by the defendant to watch audiovisual content for adults as part of the cycle of aggression.
Finally, Julio César Tamayo, 81, received a sentence of 4 years in prison for the crime of attempted violent sexual act. The events for which he was prosecuted occurred on March 3, 2022, when Tamayo arbitrarily entered the apartment of a 66-year-old woman in order to pounce on her and subject her to inappropriate touching.
Due to his advanced age, the judge determined that, unlike the other two convicts who must serve their sentence in prisons, Tamayo will do so under the modality of house arrest.
It is important to highlight that, despite the solidity of the judicial decisions, the three rulings have been appealed by the defenses of those sentenced, so the processes will continue their course in higher instances.
