The capital of Antioquia is about to make a long-awaited dream come true. The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, has confirmed the total and international renovation of the city’s largest sports venue: the Atanasio Girardot Stadium.

The official announcement, which will reveal the details of the project, will be made next Wednesday, November 5.

“Medellín will have the stadium that the city deserves!” declared the president, reaffirming that “the dream of a renewed Atanasio Girardot will be a reality.”

Although the mayor did not provide further specifications, he did make clear the scope of the ambitious work.

The goal is for the renovated Atanasio not only to have more capacity, but to become one of the best stadiums in Latin America, being more than “worthy” for the fans.
