The Attorney General’s Office presented Andinson Girón before a guarantee control judge, accused of participating in a qualified and aggravated theft committed in a commercial establishment in Cali. The defendant, advised by his defense attorney, voluntarily accepted the charge.

According to the investigation, the events occurred on the night of July 19, 2024, when Girón entered the business premises irregularly and seized cash, computers and high-end cell phones. The value of the stolen items exceeds 35 million pesos, according to authorities.

After several months of intelligence work and judicial monitoring, uniformed members of the National Police captured the alleged suspect on January 13, in the Terrón Colorado neighborhood of Cali. After the arrest, the man was placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office to carry out his respective judicial process.

By decision of the guarantee control judge, Girón must comply with a security measure in a prison while the criminal process against him progresses.

This capture occurs in the midst of strengthening actions against theft crimes in Cali. The robberies and assaults on businesses and citizens have generated concern in different sectors of the city, which has led the authorities to intensify control and surveillance operations.

Finally, the authorities indicated that investigations continue to establish whether the defendant would be linked to other criminal acts of similar characteristics in the capital of Valle del Cauca.
