The talent and organizational capacity of Medellín were once again the protagonists at the Altius 2025 Awards gala.

During the night of this Thursday, January 22, at the Grand Hyatt in Bogotá, the Pan American Aquatic Sports Championship was awarded as the Sports Competition of the Year, a recognition that exalts excellence in the execution of international events in Colombian territory.

The Altius distinction is awarded specifically to those organizations that manage to combine the highest technical standards with a profound social impact.

In this edition, the jury highlighted that the contest not only met the logistical demands, but also left a significant legacy for the region and strengthened Colombia’s position as an elite host on the world sports stage.

Held between May 10 and 26, 2025, the championship transformed the capital of Antioquia into the epicenter of continental swimming.

The data from the meeting reflect its magnitude. A participation of more than 1,200 athletes from 30 countries.

The scope was a total of 2,500 attendees, including technical bodies and delegations and it was also an innovative event.

This was the first time that five modalities were integrated into the same event: racing swimming, diving, artistic swimming, open water and water polo.

The success of the contest was ratified by Panam Aquatics, an entity that described it as one of the best organized championships in recent years.

This result was possible thanks to impeccable coordination between local and sports authorities, guaranteeing a first-class technical experience and a cultural exchange that transcended the pools.
