On a night that celebrated the excellence and integrity of national sport, Antioquia tennis player Emiliana Arango was honored with the Altius Fair Play Award.

The recognition was presented this Thursday, January 22 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Bogotá, consolidating the athlete not only as a competitive figure, but as a reference of values ​​for Colombian society.

Although the 2025 season was sportingly brilliant for Arango, the award highlights a specific moment of sporting nobility: her participation in the final of the WTA 500 in Guadalajara.

Despite suffering severe physical discomfort from the previous day, Emiliana made the decision to jump onto the field and finish the match.

His motivation was clear: deep respect for his rival, the organization of the tournament and the public present.

Additionally, the tennis player was champion of the WTA 125 in Cancún and protagonist in the definitions of the WTA 500 in Mérida and Guadalajara.

“The Fair Play statuette highlights the example and sportsmanship that athletes give to society, both on and off the field,” organizers noted during the ceremony.
