An operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, in coordination with the Local Mayor’s Office of Engativá, allowed the capture of two men for trafficking and sale of narcotics in the road corridor that connects the towns of Suba and Engativá, at the height of Calle 80.
The actions were led by uniformed officers assigned to the new CAI Calle 80, recently put back into operation, who deployed controls in the metal bridge sector and its surrounding area, a strategic point of high pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the northwest of the capital.
The procedure was carried out on the cycle path of the second metal bridge, after complaints made by residents of the sector about the presence of suspicious people. During the operation, the authorities seized 10 doses of marijuana, one dose of tusi and coca base, in addition to finding an abandoned bicycle. Two structured cambuches were also intervened at the site, in compliance with current regulations.

The operation had the support of the CAI Calle 80 and CAI Ciudadela quadrants, which made it possible to consolidate institutional presence in one of the main entry and exit corridors of the city, reinforcing the perception of security in the area.

This result takes on special relevance as it is the first operation carried out after the reactivation of the CAI Calle 80, an infrastructure located in the El Cortijo neighborhood, which returned to providing service to the community on January 19, 2026, after remaining out of operation for more than 12 years.

The local mayor of Engativá, Víctor Hugo Huertas, highlighted that the reopening of the CAI is already beginning to reflect concrete results in terms of security and pointed out that the permanent presence of the institution contributes to the recovery of the territory and the tranquility of citizens.
Currently, the CAI Calle 80 has 21 uniformed personnel, permanent motorized patrol and is part of the operational strengthening of the Police in the town, which includes the allocation of new motorcycles and the renewal of the vehicle fleet, benefiting more than 10,300 inhabitants of sectors such as El Cortijo, Gran Granada and the area around the Guadua Bridge.
The authorities reiterated the call to citizens to report any criminal act or that affects coexistence through Emergency Line 123, remembering that reporting is essential to advance the investigation and sanction processes.
