The director of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), Astrid Cáceres, reported that she was the victim of a theft in her residence, a fact that, she warned, could be related to the control and review work carried out by the entity against possible contractual irregularities in several regions of the country.

According to what was reported by the official, unknown people entered her home and stole a laptop assigned to her institutional work, as well as two musical instruments belonging to her children. Cáceres assured that, apart from these elements, no other missing objects were evident.

The director of the ICBF announced the situation through her social networks, where she noted that the fact is striking in the midst of the exhaustive review processes of hiring for the year 2026, as well as the alerts that have been raised due to alleged anomalies in some regions, especially on the Caribbean coast.

In his statement, Cáceres made it clear that no act of intimidation will stop the institutional work that is being carried out.

He indicated that all information related to alleged crimes has been immediately sent to the Attorney General’s Office, following the established transparency and control protocols.

“It is a legal and ethical duty to report any irregularity. At the ICBF, no one can hide information that must be brought to the attention of the control entities,” said the official, while reiterating her commitment to purifying administrative processes.

The director also asked the Prosecutor’s Office to move forward quickly in the complaints filed during the course of this year, as well as in the investigation of the theft from her home, in order to establish if there is any link between the crime and her public function.

Finally, Cáceres sent a strong message against those who, he said, seek to appropriate resources intended for children: “Children’s resources are not negotiable. We will continue forward, without going back.” Meanwhile, the authorities are carrying out investigative work to clarify what happened and find those responsible.
