The National Police reports that, in a forceful, strategic and coordinated operation, GAULA units, with the support of the Jungle Commands, the Special Operations Group – GOES, the Police Aviation Area and in coordination with the Colombian Aerospace Force, achieved the safe and sound rescue of the renowned singer Miguel Ayala and his manager.
Nicolás Pantoja, after being kidnapped for 14 days, remained in captivity for 15 days after being kidnapped on November 18 on the Pan-American highway, jurisdiction of Cajibío (Cauca).
The intervention took place in the Chorritos village, municipality of La Sierra, where the uniformed officers tactically entered the captivity point, guaranteeing the release of the victims and also achieving the capture of one of the alleged perpetrators of the kidnapping.
The investigative progress made it possible to establish that the kidnappers would be members of the “Carlos Patiño” Front of the Central General Staff, who would have demanded a payment of $7.5 billion from the families for the release of Miguel Ayala and his manager, and had even set a maximum period of 72 hours to carry out the extortion.
During the operation, a 9 mm caliber pistol was seized, a key element that will be made available to the judicial authority to strengthen the investigative process and the corresponding accusations.
The GAULA of the National Police continues to carry out investigative and operational procedures in order to identify, locate and capture the other members of this criminal structure responsible for this serious event.
