Colombian archery once again shines on the international stage thanks to Alejandra Usquiano, who won the title of the compound bow modality in the fifth stage of the Indoor World Series, held in Nimes, France.
Between January 16 and 18, the national athlete demonstrated her hierarchy in one of the most prestigious indoor competitions in the world, establishing herself as one of the leading figures in this discipline.
The road to gold was not easy. Usquiano began his participation in the qualifying round placing in eleventh position with a score of 589, the result of an enviable technical precision by adding 49 arrows in the center of the target (10) and only 11 in the ring of 9.
This performance allowed her to advance to the eliminatory bracket, where she began her winning streak by beating the Italian Francesca Aloisi with a solid score of 149-142.
In the following phases, the Colombian maintained an astonishing consistency that allowed her to leave world-class rivals in her path.
In the second round she defeated the Danish Sofie Marcussen (148-146) and, in the quarterfinals, she dispatched the representative of India, Parneet Kaur, with an aggregate score of 149-146.

Her passage to the grand final was sealed in a tight duel against the Estonian Meeri-Marita Paas, whom she defeated by a difference of just two points (149-147).
The definitive consecration came in the title match against the Croatian Amanda Mlinaric.
In a display of nerves of steel, Alejandra recorded 11 arrows to 10 out of 15 possible, closing the score 146-144 in her favor.
This triumph has a special value, since Usquiano had just won the gold in the previous stop in Rio de Janeiro, thus achieving a historic consecutive double on the world circuit after having previously defeated the Mexican Dafne Quintero.
