Cali has everything ready to light a 2.2 kilometer ‘Christmas Lighting’ on Sunday, December 7, inspired by the biodiversity of Valle del Cauca and prepared to receive locals and visitors.

That night the city will be transformed into the ‘Christmas branch’, as part of the December agenda led by Mayor Alejandro Eder and social manager Taliana Vargas.

The montage will narrate the transit of José and María through the landscapes of Cali and the region, with figures that represent fauna, flora and Valle del Cauca traditions. The corridor will go from Bulevar del Río, passing through Plaza de Cayzedo, until reaching Fifth Street.

A show every hour, between 6:00 and 11:00 pm

The lighting will offer light shows, technology, music and cultural presentations every hour. It will be a space designed for reconciliation and citizen encounters, also accompanied by informal vendors, who make up the circuit and are committed to caring for public space.

Adding to the central magic will be the ornamental lighting of landmarks such as the Cathedral of San Pedro, Cristo Rey, Las Tres Cruces and the townships of Montebello, La Buitrera and Felidia.

The technical director of the Special Administrative Unit of Public Services (Uaesp), Diego Hau, explained the dimension and sustainable commitment of lighting. “We will have many new features, there are more than 4,000 illuminated figures that have been built with recyclable and biodegradable material, with special fabrics that will be able to be observed at night, but also during the day. There are animatronic figures, flowers and butterflies that move while we make the journey,” he explained.

The official added that this year Cali adds new illuminated points. “We will have ‘Christmas Lighting’ on the Bulevar de Oriente, also with a technology and light show. And, finally, we will be in the Obrero, where the mayor will deliver the great work of the ‘Salsa Route’, the renovation of the neighborhood that recovers our cultural heritage,” he added.

The official inauguration of the ‘Christmas Lighting’ will be on Sunday, December 7, on the traditional day of the candles, starting at 6:30 pm in the main square of the Municipal Administrative Center (CAM).
