An armed attack perpetrated by ELN men shook the border municipality of Puerto Santander early this Sunday, December 14, leaving the driver of a local ambulance as a fatal victim.
The incident occurred around 2:25 am, when the municipality’s police station was attacked with rifle rounds by members of the armed group. The uniformed officers who were on duty repelled the attack for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, avoiding any damage to the Public Force.
However, a person who was a few meters away from the confrontation was hit by bullets. This is the driver of a municipal ambulance, who died at the scene before receiving medical attention. After the event, the authorities coordinated with the Attorney General’s Office the technical inspection of the body and the collection of evidence to clarify what happened.

In parallel, drivers traveling along the Cúcuta – Pamplona highway reported the presence of a cylinder with ELN insignia, in the sector known as Villa Marina. The authorities went to the scene to verify the possible presence of explosives and guarantee road safety.
The situation keeps Cúcuta and its metropolitan area on high alert, while authorities reinforce surveillance and carry out control operations to prevent new attacks and protect citizens.
