The Medellín mayor’s office took a key step to strengthen security in commune 14 after publishing the tender for the new El Poblado Police station, a strategic project that will have an investment of more than $17.5 billion.

The call is now available in Secop II and will allow the contractor in charge of the work to be selected. This new Police station will replace the old headquarters, demolished due to its deterioration and because it did not meet the earthquake resistance standard.

The Urban Development Company (EDU) will be the executing entity of the project, which will have an estimated period of 10 months from the signing of the initiation document. According to the official schedule, the award is scheduled for December and works would begin in January 2026.

This work, which will be developed with the EDU within the framework of the current mandate contract, has an investment of more than $17.5 billion pesos and a term of 10 months.

“Our purpose is to provide the Police with better operational capabilities and modern spaces that allow us to improve the response to crime and strengthen the perception of citizen security.” He added.

The new infrastructure will seek to improve police operations in El Poblado, one of the corridors with the greatest tourist, commercial and residential activity in Medellín, where the demand for institutional presence has increased in recent years.
