The 64th Criminal Court of Bogotá sentenced Brenda, a stylist who caused the death of a young woman by performing illegal liposuction, to four years and two months in prison.
The woman was found guilty of the crime of manslaughter, and the judge ordered her immediate capture to serve the sentence.
The tragic events occurred on September 15, 2023. The victim, Laura Sofía, went to a beauty salon located in the town of Antonio Nariño, in the south of Bogotá.
This location, according to the investigation, did not have legal accreditation to provide health services.

The Prosecutor’s Office specified that Celeita Angarita, “without having medical studies or the required experience, he began performing a liposuction procedure.”
In the middle of the irregular intervention, the young woman had a seizure and was taken from the emergency room to a healthcare center, where she finally died due to respiratory arrest.
This sentence raises the alarm about the risks of aesthetic procedures offered clandestinely by people without proper medical certification.
