The Attorney General’s Office opened a disciplinary investigation and provisionally suspended the mayor of Barrancabermeja, Jonathan Stivel Vásquez Gómez, for three months for his alleged improper participation in politics.

The First Delegate for Administrative Surveillance pointed out that, apparently, the president participated in several campaign events for pre-candidates for the Senate of the Republic for the period 2026-2030, among whom is his spouse, Laura Cristina Ahumada García.

The entity indicated that the subject would have made several publications on social networks and used clothing with images with his wife’s campaign insignia in some public activities.

The disciplinary action initiated by the Public Ministry seeks to determine the occurrence of the conduct, establish whether it constitutes a disciplinary offense and define whether or not Vásquez Gómez acted under a cause of exclusion of liability.

The provisional suspension seeks to ensure that the person disciplined does not repeat his behavior.
