Three men were sentenced by the justice system in Cali after being found responsible for serious crimes against life, including completed homicide, attempted homicide and illegal possession of firearms, all in aggravated circumstances. The convictions occurred after the Attorney General’s Office demonstrated their participation in violent events that occurred in different sectors of the capital of Valle del Cauca.
In accordance with the judicial decisions, two of the defendants accepted the charges and signed pre-agreements with the Prosecutor’s Office, which allowed the processes to be expedited. In all three cases, the use of firearms was proven and, although two of the victims managed to survive thanks to timely medical care, one of the attacks ended in homicide.
The most recent case corresponds to Brayan Andrés Criollo, sentenced to 17 years in prison for events that occurred on July 31, 2021 in the El Poblado neighborhood of Cali. According to what was established in the process, the man fired two firearms and shot eleven times at a person who was moving through the sector, causing injuries that led to his death.

In another ruling, Brayan Estiven Reyes received a 19-year prison sentence for trying to murder a citizen on July 4, 2019 in the Petecuy neighborhood. The attack took place inside a commercial establishment, where the aggressor shot the victim repeatedly. Quick medical intervention prevented the incident from having a fatal outcome.
Finally, Juan Camilo Sandoval was sentenced to 9 years and 1 month in prison, after it was proven that he offered three million pesos to two men to attack the life of his former romantic partner. The attempted murder occurred on November 10, 2018 in Cali, when the woman was attacked as a hitman and immediately transferred to a care center, which saved her life.
The sentences became final after the evaluation of the evidence provided during the judicial processes, in which the seriousness of the events and the impact generated on the victims and their environments were established.
