In an operation carried out on October 24 in the town of Los Mártires, in the center of Bogotá, three members of the National Police and a civilian were captured for transporting narcotics and pamphlets alluding to the ELN armed group.
The events were recorded when surveillance units, which were carrying out control tasks on public roads, approached an official vehicle that remained parked and proceeded to search its occupants: patrolmen Cristian Uribe, Gilberto Silva and Luis Bermúdez.
During the inspection of the car, several illicit substances were found, printed with ELN propaganda, two counterfeit license plates, a disabled weapon, two police weapons and two laptop computers.

Simultaneously, Jaime Salazar, who was driving a motorcycle reported stolen and was wearing a police uniform, was arrested. The motorcycle was also equipped with logos of the institution and escorted the intercepted vehicle.
After the arrests, the Attorney General’s Office charged the four defendants with the crimes of reception, embezzlement by use, trademark falsification, illegal use of uniforms and insignia, illicit destination of furniture and real estate, and trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics.
None of those captured accepted the charges and must comply with a security measure in a prison facility while the judicial process continues.
