The quick reaction of the Cali authorities made it possible to thwart the kidnapping of a woman last Wednesday, December 10.

The victim was about to be kidnapped by four armed men, who apparently planned to take her out of Valle del Cauca.

The events occurred when the victim was preparing to open his dental office in the El Troncal neighborhood, to the east of the city.

According to official information, the criminals surprised her right at the entrance of the establishment, intimidated her and forced her to get into a vehicle in which they immediately fled. Thanks to the initial alert and the activation of the lock plan, Metropolitan Police units began searching for the car along several exit routes.

The chase extended to the El Triunfo sector, in the town of El Cabuyal, rural jurisdiction of the municipality of Candelaria, where the uniformed officers finally managed to intercept the car and rescue the woman who had been kidnapped unharmed.

Four alleged perpetrators were arrested and placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.

General Henry Bello, commander of the Cali Police, explained that the men would have arrived from another region of the country with the vehicle they used in the kidnapping. The first investigations indicate that the suspects previously monitored the victim and that they had the intention of transferring her to the department of Cauca, where she would be handed over to members of the FARC dissidents.

The authorities continue with the investigations to establish the motives for the attempted kidnapping.
