A fire that broke out on the night of November 24 in the Manrique neighborhood, Medellín, ended with the capture of a 59-year-old man accused of having started the emergency that consumed four homes and left one person injured due to smoke inhalation.
The events occurred around 10:05 pm on Carrera 39 and Calle 82-42, where the flames spread quickly because several structures were built of wood and used as warehouses and residences.
According to testimonies from the community, the captured person (a well-known recycler in the sector) had set fire to an object that, in a few minutes, became a major emergency.
The situation forced the immediate response of the Medellín Fire Department, which sent four machines, as well as two ambulances and specialized EPM personnel to cut off electrical risks and support the control of the conflagration.
