The rains that have hit Colombia in recent days continue to generate concern and emergencies in several regions of the country.

In Bogotá, the panorama has not been different. Last Friday, November 21, a downpour accompanied by hail affected large areas of the capital, especially in the north, where the roads collapsed due to flooding, blockages and overflows of water that complicated mobility and generated chaos in the afternoon.

Videos of streets turned into rivers and vehicles trapped by the water level went viral on social networks.

Given the increase in rainfall, the District Institute for Risk Management and Climate Change (Idiger) launched a preventive alert for this weekend.

According to the entity, between November 22 and 23, conditions are expected to remain between moderate and high rains, with the probability of intensifying in the afternoon. In addition, they warn about associated risks such as flooding, falling trees, failures in sewage systems, landslides and flooding in rivers and streams.

For its part, Ideam confirmed that La Niña-type atmospheric and oceanic conditions have been occurring since October, a phenomenon that usually increases the frequency and intensity of rains in much of the national territory.

The Caribbean, Andean and Pacific regions have been the most affected, recording cold days and heavy rainfall. The entity also recalled that the impacts of La Niña may vary depending on the time of year and its evolution in the coming weeks.
